September 30th, 2007 at 2:06 am   editI was thrilled when I learned about this program, and find the classes to be challenging, and the professors and students to be quite knowledgeable. Each person is an asset to the program, and I look forward to applying some of the practices learned in the classroom to the office.

October 2nd, 2007 at 12:17 am   editI think this program is fantastic and I am so excited about the classes that I am taking, and the ones that I will be taking in the future. The only suggestion I have is in regards to class planning. I would really like to know more about the paths possible, and the classes I should take to get there.

October 2nd, 2007 at 2:08 pm   editI am grateful to have this new and exciting opportunity. I am loving my classes, the discussions and such. I work fulltime and I thought that going back to school might be too draining. But seriously, the only draining thing about class is finding parking in Georgetown! My classes are always engaging and never boring. I highly recommend to those thinking of applying.

Oh, and maybe we can have a vending machine at the M st location! ;)

October 3rd, 2007 at 1:54 pm   editWhat makes this program so unique is its professors. They are all extremely dedicated and work hard to make their courses valuable. They put time and effort into their lesson plans and it shows. I have been so happy with the program, thus far. I particularly enjoy the guest speakers. They have been entertaining and informative.

October 9th, 2007 at 5:46 pm   editI’d love to know which blogs get the most buzz from the students in our program.

Can anyone recommend a great blog — or two? I’d really like to hear from folks about blogs that are focused on developing topics in the communications field. It’s great we have all found “For Immediate Release” – it’s excellent. Blubrry.com has some great branding blogs. I’ve also enjoyed the Ragan Communications site. Anyone have other recoomendations?

October 12th, 2007 at 3:56 am   editThanks to all for the blog recommendations. I have gone from 0-60 in a short period of time.

I would highly recommend the “6 am” blog. It includes a recent presentation that touches on many of the trends in the industry we have discussed. The new definition for PR is “Public Relationships.” I like it. It puts emphasis on the reciprical nature of our business. (There’s a great graphic that shows how the “top down” approach to PR is gone for good.)

Branding students, there’s also an interesting discussion about the end of “sales” and the power of “the buy.” Prof. Rolle would be pleased.

Why We Are Blogging – and Why You Should Too

September 22, 2007

Georgetown University is a community of students, scholars and instructors – and the School of Continuing Studies is its newest addition.

As students, instructors and full-time staff, we are all experiencing things for the first time. For this reason, we have created a blog on which, in an open, honest and anonymous fashion, students can post their thoughts about their experiences at SCS.

For example, what do you think of the curriculum, your instructors and the overall experience? We wholeheartedly encourage you to share your thoughts, comments and especially suggestions with other blog visitors.

This blog will help us continue on the academic standard of excellence already underway.

Blog early, blog often, but most of all, make your voice heard.
